Prescription Drug Medication Disposal

Drug Take Back - box picIf you have prescription medication in your household and are looking for a location for proper disposal, you can bring these medications to the Police Department/Town Office building. Guidelines on what is accepted and not accepted are as follows:

We do accept:

  1. Prescription medication (Controlled and Non-Controlled).
  2. Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medication.
  3. Vitamins.

We do not accept:

  1. Illegal drugs
  2. Needles, syringes, or lancets.
  3. Liquids, lotions, ointments.
  4. Medical devices.
  5. Thermometers, batteries or other products which contain mercury or cadmium.
  6. Medical waste items such as IV bags, used bandages, gowns, or biohazard items.
  7. Aerosol cans.
  8. Hydrogen peroxide or other disinfectants.
  9. Personal care products (non-medicated shampoo, sunscreen, etc).

COLLECT your unwanted, unused, and expired medicines.

REMOVE or blackout any personally identifying information from the products labels or packaging.

KEEP products in their prescription bottles or packaging and place them in a clear, sealed bag.

BRING items to the Police Department/Town Office building.  The Safe Medication Disposal Receptacle is located in the lobby and accessible from 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
